The GRE is a rigorous assessment of verbal, quantitative, and writing skills that is taken by applicants to graduate programs in most academic subjects. With over 655,000 annual test-takers, the GRE is one of the world's most widely used standardized tests. Median scores for the entire group are approximately 151 verbal, 152 quantitative, and 3.5 writing. Only 5% of test-takers score 165 or higher in verbal reasoning, and about 10% meet or exceed this level in quantitative reasoning. Test-takers are distributed across many different fields, including life sciences (19% of the total), social sciences (18%), engineering (12%), physical sciences (11%), arts and humanities (8%), education (4%), and business (3%), with the remaining 25% from other subjects. Score expectations at universities usually depend on the degree program, and a "good" GRE score is difficult to define. Liberal arts programs tend to be more concerned with the verbal scores, while graduate degree offerings in the sciences emphasize the quantitative score. However, admissions committees are almost always impressed with high scores on all three sections.
Manhattan Review's GRE prep courses and private tutoring have helped students around the world get accepted to graduate programs at elite universities such as Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Toronto, Dartmouth, Yale, Georgetown, the University of Virginia, the University of Melbourne, and King's College London. Thousands of our former clients have become successful professionals in many different fields. Some of our former Bangkok students have chosen to return home after being offered jobs at Dusit Thani Group, Siam Future Development, Bangkok Insurance, Amari Hotels and Resorts, and PTT Global Chemical. Others have remained in the United States to pursue rewarding careers with Fortune 500 companies, including Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase, World Fuel Services, State Farm Insurance, and Walgreens Boots Alliance.
